Rings were Kathleen's first jewellery love, and she is still very passionate about them. To Kathleen a ring is a tiny treasure to be admired as an object in its own right as well as a beautiful creation used to decorate the body.

Below are images and explanations of some examples of Kathleen's rings from various collections, please contact for full catalogues/price-lists of available pieces or to arrange a commission.

Encased.

Picture

Inspired by elements found under the sea, this collection is formed of simple silver rings encased within a layer of enamel. The enamels are used in a non-traditional way to create interesting colours and textures which reflect those found in and around the sea. The enamelled plain bands are not bespoke - but do all differ slightly from each other due to the nature of the enamel.

Resolution.

Using 'Encased' as a starting point this collection also combines silver rings with layers of enamel. Kathleen has, however, used less enamel in this series to allow areas of the silver to show through. Pearls and semi-precious cabachon stones have also been added to enhance the links to the ocean through the use of colour. The aim of the collection is for the rings to look as though they have been submerged under the sea for a long time and so they are becoming decorated with textures and colours from the ocean.

Encrusted.

Picture
This collection is once again linked to the ocean, this time however, Kathleen's focus is on texture. These silver rings are sculpted by hand out of precious metal clay, and detail is added through the occassional use of enamels or oxidisation. The textures found within this series of work relate to elements such as rust, corrosion, chains, barnacles, deteriorating wood, etc. These rings also include peridot, flourite and aqua-marines to extend -or pearls to contrast with- the rough textures of the ring shanks.

Simply Pearls.

Picture
Kathleen has always been fascinated by pearls, and so this series was some what inevitable. This collection uses clean lines, elegant forms and no use of enamels, to provide a series of silver rings which purely focus on extenuating the beauty and simplicity of each pearl.

Pearls Plus.

Picture
This collection follows on from "Simply Pearls", continuing to focus on the beautiful simplicity of the pearl, but now adding semi-precious cabachon stones to enhance/contrast the colours and forms of the pearls.

Erosion.

Picture
These silver rings see the introduction of yellow gold and oxidisation in Kathleen's work. The collection is made up of several hand-shaped rings which have been inspired by the patterns of eroding coast lines. Contrasting finishes/colours are used to emphasize the cut away forms of the ring shank.

A touch of gold.

Picture
Inspired by the contrasting colours of yellow gold and silver in the 'Erosion' collection, Kathleen found herself wanting to evolve this idea which resulted in a series of rings made up of white gold/silver rings with yellow gold details, some also include precious stones.

Noir.

Picture
Inspired by darkness itself, and in contrast with 'A touch of gold', this series is made up of oxidised or black rhodium plated silver and gold rings with added details such as hematites, sapphires, black crystals and black diamonds.
